  Tradeoffs

These last two days have marked the beginning of a very busy month in fashion media -- with the beginning of the US Open (albeit rained-out thus far), tomorrow night's MTV Video Music Awards, and next week marking the beginning of New York fashion week, I'm swamp-o-rama at work.

Today, for example, I started off my day stopping by Glamour Magazine's VMA lounge at Soho House, where I visited with the Redken salon gang, some great Shiseido make-up artists, and the House of Dereon (Beyonce's line) suite. Then, I ran to the office to do a radio interview to promote my book. Next, I wrote a story for tomorrow's paper. At 1:00 p.m. I hit the Sirius lounge at the Times Square W to hang out with my friend Christopher and celeb watch (Rihanna, JC Chasez, Common, the band Ok Go, Fall Out Boy and tons of other famous faces).
After that, my friends Jonathan and Simon called me over to the Bryant Park Hotel, where I ran around the Style Villa event and saw (oh my god) Davey Havoc from the band AFI -- the coolest looking guy in a band in a long time. Also ran into the Heatherette gang, Cee-lo (from Gnarls Barkley and "My Super Sweet Sixteen"), and some dude from That 70s Show. Next? On to the Gansevoort Hotel to meet my friend, a producer at NBC Sports, and visit with the folks from Nike Jordan -- we rode the elevator with a Black Eyed Pea and saw Tyson Beckford, super-hot model dude. Fab.

So, around 5pm, after getting back to the office, I realized that all I'd consumed all day was three Diet Cokes, two sugar-free Red Bulls, a Bacardi cocktail, and half a glass of pink pinot grigio (yes, pink! It's a new thing). Wow. With all the running around, I just didn't have time to eat -- and then I got to thinking, hey, what if I gave up food and subsisted entirely on free energy drinks and cocktails? I'd definitely lose weight, plus I'd save so much money. Added bonus: with all the money I'd save and my svelte new body, I'd be able to buy some amazing new clothes! What a great plan, huh?

Then I forgot, and ended up eating burritos, chips, guac, and margaritas at Chipotle with my friend Tanner instead. Oh well.
